Malaria & the Liver

Malarial symptoms vary to include severe flu-like symptoms, headache, dizziness, fatigue, pains, cramps, nausea, chills and jaundice:

Falaria

These symptoms may appear every 3rd day or every consecutive day.

Current Treatment:

The current medical treatment for malaria includes taking medication (or a combination) from one to two weeks before visiting a malaria-risk location and up until to four weeks after leaving such place

So that means if someone wishes to travel say for 3 months – these medications have to be taken for around a total of 5 months

Side-effects of these medications include:

  • Severe skin reactions (Fansidar – Banned in Canada)
  • Neuropsychiatric side-effects (Lariam)
  • Skin Rash, Nausea, Blurred Vision (Chloroquine)
  • Mouth ulcers, Nausea (Paludrine)
  • Increased Sensitivity to Sun (Doxycycline)
  • Panic attacks, Depression, and Diarrhoea have also been suffered from a considerable number of people using conventional treatment against malaria
